BRANCH LINES IN SOUTHERN BOHEMIA

Here's the southern Bohemia map again, to show where the lines are. Click on the map to see it enlarged.



Here is a list of some branch lines in southern Bohemia, with a brief commentary of points of interest along each line. The listing shows: Mainline station - Terminus (line number on the map above)

Jindrichuv Hradec - Nova Bystrice (229) Jindrichuv Hradec is the main terminus of the Jindrichuv Hradec Local Line (JHMD), Czechia's other (private) narrow gauge line. For more information, take a look at http://www.jhmd.cz.

Jindrichuv Hradec - Obratan (228) Ditto.

Tabor - Bechyne (202) Czechia's first electrified line (1903). During the summer, excursions are run with Czech Railways' oldest operating electric locomotive.

Kostelec u Jihlavy - Slavonice (227): Dacice, Telc, Slavonice. A run through some attractive rolling hillscapes and really pretty towns.

Divcice - Netolice (193): Some dramatic mountain scenery on the edge of the Sumava Mountains.

Veseli nad Luznici - Ceske Velenice (226): Trebon. Another attractive run through a pleasant countryside, famous for its numerous artificial lakes.

Rybnik - Lipno nad Vltavou (195): Vyssi Brod, Rozmberk nad Vltavou. Various hilly and meadow landscapes and some pretty, historical towns make this a journey to remember.
