All Aboard!
I am a Canadian railfan living in Czechia (The Czech Republic), where I work as a teacher, translator and ocassional tour guide. Czechia (and Central Europe generally) offers rail enthusiasts wonderful opportunities for trainspotting and riding a variety of new and preserved trains through a variety of landscapes. This is really a great place for the Renaissance Railfan, who is interested not only in trains, but in all things historical and technical, and who enjoys travelling through beautiful countryside. A brief explanation of the page links listed on the left:
Across Czechia By Dayliner contains general information on interesting rail-related things in the Czech Republic.
Narrow Gauge in Osoblaha describes Czech Railways' only narrow gauge line (there is another, privately owned narrow gauge line in Czechia, follow the links on the Osoblaha page to get to the JHMD's own pages).
The Horse-Drawn Railway describes the first railway ever built on the European continent, from Ceske Budejovice to Linz.
The Photo Album shows some photos I've taken during my time here in Czechia. Whichever page you're on, you can click on the picture at the top to come back here.
If you're planning a trip to this neck of the woods and you have any questions, or if you're just curious about Czech trains, feel free to drop me a line at, and I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible.
